About Our District

sparky homepageWalla Walla County Fire District #4 provides a range of services designed to protect lives and property in Walla Walla County from adverse effects of fires, medical emergencies, or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.

Fire District #4 protects an area of approximately 125 square miles surrounding the cities of Walla Walla and College Place, serving a population of about 10,500 residents. Located within our District are heavily populated residential areas, commercial and industrial complexes, educational facilities, as well as agricultural and wildland areas. To provide timely service to this diverse area, we currently have six fire stations strategically located to provide the best protection to all.  One station is dedicated for ARFF services at the Walla Walla Regional Airport.

Our career staff consists of the Fire Chief, a Lieutenant/EMT, Lieutenant/Training officer, four firefighter/EMT’s, one firefighter paramedic, firefighter/mechanic, and a secretary. The backbone of the fire district are our dedicated volunteer firefighters, officers, EMT’s, First Responders, and support personnel. Our entire operation utilizes approximately 68 people. All members are trained as firefighters, with medical training being secondary.

The District is governed by a three member elected Board of Commissioners, each serving six year staggered terms. The Board, responsible for the overall management, is focused on meeting the community’s needs of today, while preparing for future challenges.
